We’ve gone and done a short film and we’re quite excited about it and there’s not really a cool way of saying that. And yet, here we are. Very excited.
MONO is a short film that we have created and we are incredibly stoked. Written and directed by Tom Heath and produced by Faizah Ahmed (aka. the St Ghosty Team) and featuring filming by George Gray and Sound editing by Katy Arnell, we can’t wait to share this with you.
We have also been selected for two film festivals! Lift Off London Film Festival and Voice Magazine Winter Film Festival. These represent amazing achievements and we’re delighted. Most importantly, the full film is now available to view on our site for free!
What’s the ask I hear you say? Well basically, tell us what you think.
If you could spare 7 mins or so, then we’d absolutely love your thoughts on what you thought about the film, positive, negative or those very fancy reviews where it sort of feels like both emotions at once. If you have social media, then any reviews would go a long way for us – same goes for our fellow Letterboxd members – where the film is now currently listed. All of this helps to reward our work, while also giving us valuable feedback on the projects we create. We couldn’t possibly ask for more.
Why?
If you’ve read this far, you may well be interested as to why we’ve done this.
For a long time we’ve been obsessed with filmmaking. It’s just always been something we’ve not had a chance to do, specialising more in live performance and literary projects. MONO represents a chance for us to do something new, but in a medium that we’ve loved for along time – as any long term fan of the blog will know.
MONO represents our fascination with information – how it’s represented, transmitted, broadcast. We are continually fascinated by the story of how we interpret information and experience, and more so how we express those experiences in trauma oriented spaces through turbulent relationships with technology and faith. We believe these questions are integral not only to modern living, but also the contemporary interpretation of information.
“Every thing is more true than any thing”
The result of these conversations is often something that feels distinctly neo-liberal. Something which placates all sides of an argument. But this isn’t an argument, this isn’t us saying we’re right, this is us simply proposing that there is an alternative to seeing a person as a non-fluid, fixed thing. That, actually, seeing us as atoms in the scale is a little to Hobbes-esque for us. Maybe we should be looking more at the different crystalline visions of ourselves, maybe we could do with being a bit more fluid. Is it really that strange to suggest that we are in fact, many people over the course of a life?
We’re not definite on this, and we’d love this film to be the start of a dialogue. Let us know what you think, what the film makes you feel, what your own experiences have been.
Following our premier in December 2025 in London, our film will now be hosted free on Youtube/ through our projects page . Thank you so much once again to our team and supporters.
